Ferazur/Mangazur are a range of compact metal biological filtration units for the reduction of iron, manganese and arsenic present in surface or ground water.
Bacteria naturally present in the water become fixed to the filter medium and quickly oxidise dissolved metals such as iron and manganese. The precipitates thus formed are retained inside the medium, and then removed by regular water and air washing. The medium does not need to be replaced or periodically regenerated.
This process allows operation at high filtration speeds, with a small footprint, and requires no chemical oxidant.
