Contract for the design procurement and training assistance in the construction of a drinking water treatment plant in Al Rusafa, Baghdad.


On December 07, 2008, in a ceremony held at the Mayoralty of Baghdad, Degrémont, a subsidiary of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, signed a contract with the association of AL Mabrook and Issam Al-Iraqi Construction Contractors Companies, for the design, purchase of equipment and training of personnel to build a drinking water treatment plant with an output capacity of 910,000 m3/day in Al Rusafa- Baghdad This project will provide drinking water to more than 4 million residents in the Grand Baghdad area who until now did not have any access to it ...

Degrémont will provide the Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology in Al Dur 1, the largest desalination plant with RO technology in the Middle East.


GDF SUEZ Energy International has won the contract to build, own, and operate the Al Dur 1 power generation and seawater desalination plant, a major Independent Power and Water Project in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Al Dur 1 will utilize Reverse Osmosis (RO) as its water desalination technology. Degrémont, a subsidiary of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT which specializes in water treatment and desalination, will provide the RO technology, which is a highly flexible, efficient, and environmentally friendly desalination technology where Degrémont is one of the world leaders.

A first in the middle east: the residents of Jordan’s capital, Amman, will receive a new wastewater treatment plant that will be 95% self-sufficient in energy.


On August 23, 2008, at As-Samra, in the presence of his Excellency Mr. Nader Al-Dahabi, Prime Minister of the Government of Jordan, the Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the Samra Plant Company (SPC) inaugurated a wastewater treatment plant for the Greater Amman and Zarqa area. Designed to treat the wastewater of the 2.2 million inhabitants of Greater Amman, the inaugurated plant implements technically advanced solutions for wastewater treatment and for sludge treatment. With an average daily capacity of 267,000 cubic meters and a maximum daily capacity of 530,000 cubic meters, the plant discharges water of exceptional quality into the natural environment.
