A talent for water

A talent for water

Decentralisation is a daily occurrence for Degremont with nearly 4,500 employees spread through seventy countries. The Human Resources policy combines international training, skill and career management.

Furthering our employees is first and foremost a way for us to get to know each and every one of them
Degremont has invested in a specific tool to optimise skill management - OMEGA COMPETENCES (OMEGA SKILLS). This global database lists all the Group's technical and business skills. It provides a global, exhaustive overview of know-how in every country and is used to anticipate medium- and long-term needs and plan career paths.

Degremont invests in young talent. Its hunting ground? The entire planet.

In line with the objectives of the Strategic Vision 2010, Degremont has already hired eight hundred people in three years. The group is displaying clearly its desire to invest in young talent. At least one hundred young graduates will be recruited to fill two hundred job creations.

Armed with this tasking order, the HR teams have thus attended various trade shows and job fairs in some major Asian, North and South American and of course European capitals. The Group has also committed in 2006 to recruitment communication on the Net, taken part in chats and so on. This policy will be strengthened further in 2007.

Hiring young talent infers that training and skill development is more than ever a priority
The training budget is increasing by 25% both in France and internationally. As the world specialist in water treatment plants, Degrémont does not allow anyone else to provide technical training: the HRD has set up a training consultancy scheme which relies on the Group specialists to design and create teaching media and the training sessions themselves. For the first time this year a brand name has been given to this in-house training scheme - Campus.

Degremont carried out a first e-learning experiment in 2006 to make these training sessions more accessible to teams operating in the four corners of the planet. Training modules - still designed in-house - will be developed in this direction. Degrémont is also hoping that this initiative will be a chance for its expatriate and foreign employees to create a living virtual community, whereby participants can exchange views on the World Wide Web in specialised internal forums that go beyond simple training.
